Dr. Kimberly Lewis, Functional Medicine, DC, BS
Dr Kimberly Lewis is native of Illinois. She graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in 2001 and shortly thereafter set up practice in South Carolina. After practicing for a few years, she realized that what she was doing was not getting the results it should. “I remember the retired doctors coming into the school and telling us Good luck getting these people better today. These days the world is so full of plastic and poisonous food that they do not heal like they used to.” Says Dr Lewis. Upon closer examination she realized the retired doctors were right. “Most of my patients were not getting better because they had complicated underlying health problems that were not being adequately managed or remained undetected altogether. Problems like Brain Inflammation, Autoimmune Diseases and Leaky Gut. These conditions are caused by diet, environment and lifestyle. This did not allow my patients to heal and thrive.” “Even when my patients knew that they had these conditions, they had a general lack of education on how to manage their problems.” It was at this point that Dr Lewis became fascinated with functional Medicine. “It just made sense to me” said Dr Lewis. “Get to the root of the problem and deal with it there instead of chasing the symptoms.” After studying functional medicine for 5 years she and her husband moved to Peru where she was able to help her husband who was a type two diabetic achieve a normal A1C blood sugar level by eating an extremely clean diet and avoiding environmental triggers while living and learning in the Amazon Rain forest. After 4 years in Peru they moved to Ireland and where she learned even more about real health through Functional Medicine. After returning to the USA Dr Lewis continues to update all her functional medicine training with the latest in health science discoveries.
